(EN) The invention concerns improvements to containers, in particular plastic bottles, having a body (2) with a circular non-cylindrical wall, so as to reinforce them and prevent cross-section variation when they are subjected to compression forces. Part at least of the wall is provided with a substantially planar relief. The wall is reinforced with peripheral grooves (26, 27, 28, 29 30) oriented in planes substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (X) of the container, and the part comprising a substantially planar relief is run through with several grooves. The invention is characterised in that the width of each of the grooves is such that it is less wide (L2) where it emerges in said part of the wall than at the middle (L1) of its crossing. The invention is particularly useful for reinforcing large capacity bottles. (FR) L'invention a pour objet des perfectionnements aux récipients, en particulier des bouteilles, en matière plastique, présentant un corps (2) avec une paroi non cylindrique de révolution, afin de les renforcer et d'éviter une variation de section des récipients lorsqu'ils subissent des forces de compression. Une partie au moins de la paroi possède un relief sensiblement plan. La paroi est renforcée à l'aide de gorges périphériques (26, 27, 28, 29, 30) orientées selon des plans sensiblement perpendiculaires à l'axe longitudinal (X) du récipient, et la partie possédant un relief sensiblement plan est traversée par plusieurs gorges. Selon l'invention, la largeur de chaque gorge traversant la partie de paroi possédant un relief sensiblement plan est variable, la variation de largeur de chacune des dites gorges étant telle qu'elle est moins large (L2) à son débouché dans la dite partie de paroi qu'au milieu (L1) de sa traversée.
