DIAPER HAVING TRANSVERSE PARTITION AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME

| Abstract: |
An absorbent article (20) having a periphery defined by a front waist region (31), a rear waist region (33), and a crotch region (35) intermediate the front waist region and the rear waist region. The diaper further including a liquid pervious topsheet (24), a backsheet joined to the topsheet, an absorbent core intermediate the topsheet and the backsheet (26), and a pair of upstanding barrier leg cuffs (32). Each barrier leg cuff (32) extending from a proximal (46) end to a distal end (48) spaced from the proximal end (46). The barrier led cuffs (32) being generally longitudinally oriented and at least one of the barrier leg cuffs (32) having an activated region (50) located in at least a portion of the crotch region (35). The absorbent article (20) also includes a generally laterally oriented transverse partition (38), at least a portion of the partition being joined to the topsheet (24) at a proximal end (46) and extending outwardly therefrom to a distal end (48), at least a portion the transverse partition (38) being joined to each of the barrier leg cuffs (32) juxtaposed the activated region (50) such that when fitted on a wearer, the distal edge (48) of the transverse partition (38) is spaced apart from the topsheet (24). |
