| Abstract: | This invention concerns deterring vandalism. In particular the invention concerns a system and method suitable for deterring the creation of graffiti in or on public transport vehicles. The invention uses an audio transducer mounted on public transport infrastructure to generate a signal representing the average sound pressure level in its vicinity. A pattern classification engine is operable to receive samples of the signal and divide them into blocks. Then, recognise audio-based features associated with different types of sounds in blocks of the signal and, finally to assign a graffiti class label to each block. | |||||||||||
