| Abstract: | Fire-resistant containers made with geopolymer binder material (6). One type of container comprises a hollow body (10) in the form of a matrix of geopolymer binder material (6). Other types of containers comprise a shell (2) of non-geopolymer having interior or exterior surfaces treated with geopolymer binder material (6). Optionally, the hollow body (10) further comprises filler material (4) bound in the geopolymer binder material (6). For example, the filler material (4) may comprise wound filaments (4). Some types of containers, e.g., ammunition containers and firesafes, comprise a hollow body having an opening covered by a door, lid, or other closure device, the hollow body (10) and closure device comprising geopolymeric binder material (6). | |||||
