Title: WEAR-RESISTANT BLADE ELEMENT
Abstract: A wear-resistant blade element is disclosed for use in the assembly of a wear-resistant blade in a de-watering section of a paper-making machine. The blade element comprises a unitary ceramic body (10) having an upper region (10a) defining an upper, working surface (10c); ends (10f and 10g); leading and trailing edges (10d and 10e); and a lower dovetail-shaped region (10b) engageable with a carrier (16) for a multiplicity of blade elements assembled in end-to-end relationship. The body (10) is elongated between its ends (10f and 10g) so that its length between said ends is no less than three times the width thereof between said leading and trailing edges (10d and 10e). The body (10) has a longitudinal hollow (12) therethrough which is large enough to receive two clamping rods (18) which clamp the elements together.
