| Abstract: | A suspension system (20) for a backpack (10) includes a rocker arm (36) pivotally connected to the backpack. A first hip stay (50) has a first end (50a) connected to a first end of the rocker arm (36a) and a second end opposite the first end. A second hip stay (52) has a first end (52a) connected to a second end of the rocker arm (36b) and a second end opposite the first end. A waist belt (24) is attached to the second end (70) of the first hip stay and to the second end (72) of the second hip stay. The first and second hip stays distribute the load of the backpack between a wearer's left and right hips. A backpack incorporating the suspension system is also disclosed. | ||||||||||||||||||
