| Abstract: | A lock nut (10) having a plurality of sides (16) having a crimp radius (18) which is consistent with the radius of the threaded bore (14) in the lock nut (10). Preferably, the lock nut (10) is crimped using a three sided die (52), each die having a crimp radius (118) with relief angles (56). The relief angles (56) are provided at a desired angle to result in the desired amount of contact area between the lock nut (10) and the die (52). The device (40) includes a housing (42), and the housing (42) includes at one end (44) a threaded bore (46) which is configured to mount on a ram. An opposite end (48) of the housing (42) provides a tapered die section (50) in which the three sided die (52) is disposed.
