New/Updated PCT Resources on the Internet

PCT Case Law Database

A new database of text-searchable PCT legal and administrative decisions from national courts and regional administrative bodies in or operating for PCT Contracting States is now available on the PCT Resources page at:

           http://www.wipo.int/pctcaselawdb/en

The decisions which have been included in the database are ones in which PCT issues have been referenced, raised or considered by a national court or administrative body.  Abstracts and PCT legal references have been added by the International Bureau in order to facilitate navigation and information retrieval. 

Submissions for additions (in any language) or database refinements are welcome and should be sent to:  pct.legal@wipo.int.

Modifications to the PCT Receiving Office Guidelines

A number of modifications have been made, with effect from 1 July 2009, to the PCT Receiving Office Guidelines. The consolidated text of the Guidelines (RO/GL/RO/8) is available in PDF format, in English and French at, respectively:

Time limits for entering the national phase

The table of time limits for entering the national phase has been updated with effect from 15 October 2009 and is available in English at:

The table indicates, for each designated/elected Office, the time limits for entering the national (or regional) phase under Chapters I and II of the PCT.

Types of protection available via the PCT in PCT Contracting States

The table setting out, for each Contracting State, the types of protection which can be obtained via the PCT has been updated with effect from 13 October 2009 (changes have been made in relation to protection available in Chile, Dominica, Guatemala and Thailand) and is available at:
