Modes of payment of special fees to the International Bureau

Special fees payable to the International Bureau include:

– early publication fee (PCT Rule 48.4(a))
– fee for publication of information concerning late correction or addition of a priority claim (PCT Rule 26bis.2(e))
– fee for publication of a refused request for rectification (PCT Rule 91.3(d))

Modes of payment

In order to correctly allocate your payment, please indicate:
– the purpose of your payment;
– the number of your WIPO current account;
– the name of the applicant;
– the file reference or, if known, the PCT international application number.

  • By direct bank transfer (Swiss francs) to:

In order for WIPO to correctly allocate your payment, please indicate:
– the purpose of your payment;
– the name of the applicant; and
– the file reference; or
– the PCT international application number (if known). Please note that WIPO, as payee, shall not be liable for bank or transfer charges.

The International Bureau will no longer accept payment by check with effect from 1 January 2017.  Any check received on or after this date will be systematically returned to the issuer.​
It is preferable to make payments using any of the other modes of payment indicated above. 

The name and address of the account holder (as the ordering party) and the name and address of the beneficiary must be printed on all checks.  It is no longer permissible to leave the order line blank or to indicate “holder,” “bearer,” or a bank as beneficiary.  In addition, the check must be for more than CHF 100, or the equivalent of this sum in another currency.

All fee payments are acknowledged and include the contact details of the authorized officer processing the application.
