Intellectual Property and Bioethics
Life science innovations may significantly influence our future. Developments in molecular biology and their applications in health technologies and agriculture have provided new perspectives and created hope for new solutions. The rapid advances in this area accompanied by grant of patent rights on inventions related to, for example DNA sequences, protein sequences, stem cells, and other similar technologies, has prompted examination in international fora of the implications of intellectual property rights and their ethical underpinnings.
