Željko Topić |
Mr. Topić was appointed Director General of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of the Republic of Croatia in 2004. He began his career in SIPO in 1992, initially as a Senior advisor and then as Assistant Director, working on National IP practice and International relations.
As Director General he was the initiator, coordinator and major contributor to the National Strategy for the development of the IP System of the Republic of Croatia. He is a national coordinator for IP matters in the process of accession to EU, Croatian Patent Attorney and Croatian Trademark Attorney, Member of the Administrative Council of European Patent Organization. Mr. Topic was head or member of Croatian delegations to a different WIPO bodies during more than 15 years (Governing Bodies of WIPO and the Unions Administered by WIPO, Vice President of the Assembly of the Madrid Union, Vice President of the Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of the RTLT, President of the SCT, representative of AIPPI in WIPO, etc.).
Appart of his expirience in the State Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Topić was Managing Partner in Korper, Haramija & Topic Ltd. - a firm for complete IP managment. He holds a degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration.
He is a lecturer, a speaker and the author of more than 50 titles in the fields of IP and economics.
