Roland Grossenbacher

Roland Grossenbacher received his degree in law at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, in 1974 and his doctorate in law in 1977. He was admitted to the bar in 1979. He pursued his career at the former Federal Intellectual Property Office, now the Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, and became Director General in 1989. As such, he also acts as top adviser to the Swiss government on all matters of intellectual property. He was the chairman of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation from 2000-2009, and he was also the chairman of the Diplomatic Conference 2000 to revise the European Patent Convention.
