David Gabunia is the Director General of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia.

He is a graduate of Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Physics. Mr.Gabunia was engaged in research in biocybernetics and has a PhD from Moscow Neuroscience Institute. He is a full member of the Engineering Academy of Georgia.

In 1991-1993, Mr.Gabunia held the position of Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and was personally responsible for the creation of the institutional and legislative system of intellectual property in Georgia.

He was awarded the Order of Honour by the President of Georgia and the WIPO Gold Medal by the Director General of WIPO. Mr.Gabunia is the author of a number of scientific articles and books in the sphere of biocybernetics and intellectual property.

Patent Information System of Georgia: Activities and Challenges

The presentation is devoted to the issues related to the functioning of the patent information system of Georgia. Main challenges of the further development of patent information services for general public, in particular, small and medium enterprises and the economy of Georgia on the whole are considered. Some ways of perfection of the existing global patent information system are discussed.
