Graduated in Natural Science and Law at Cambridge University, England. Qualified as a Chartered Patent Agent in the UK. Professional experience there and in the USA. Returned to Ireland in 1968.

Past-President of the Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. Past-President and now Honorary President of the UNION of European Practitioners in Industrial Property.
