Objective
The effective management of Intellectual property (IP) has become a key driving force for the success of companies in domestic and international markets. Increasingly chambers of commerce and other business support organizations are taking concrete measures for creating awareness and providing assistance to their local businesses to make effective use of IP assets to increase their competitiveness, or would like to do so.
ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) are pleased to announce their first joint intellectual property training workshop for chambers of commerce and other business support organizations, which will be held on 15 and 16 September at the WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland . This Workshop aims to provide chambers of commerce and other business support organizations with the tools necessary to set up successful intellectual property programmes for local businesses.
The Workshop will introduce basic IP concepts, present different strategies for protecting and commercially exploiting IP assets, explore how business support institutions can provide IP capacity building services, and outline the resources and opportunities available to them for building partnerships for this purpose. The sessions will be led by representatives of WIPO, ICC and renowned intellectual property experts, along with business people and representatives of chambers that have had success in developing and implementing IP-related activities for thier members. The Workshop will also include practical training exercises and group discussions, allowing participants to exchange experiences and ideas about how chambers and other business support organizations can help their constituencies understand and profit from use of the tools of the IP system.
Who Should Attend?
The Workshop is aimed at chambers of commerce and other business support organizations, and will provide them with the information and skills to promote greater awareness and understanding of IP among their business constituencies.
WIPO or ICC does not charge any course fee or participation fee. All the participants will have to arrange on their own to meet their travel and stay-related expenses.
