INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION

The WIPO registration desk is situated in the main entrance lobby of the Conference Center. This desk will function for information and registration on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, from 9 a.m. Telephone: (41 22) 791 91 11.

OPENING SESSION

Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 10 a.m.

INTERPRETATION

Simultaneous interpretation is provided in English, French and Spanish, the languages being identified on the control switch as follows: 1. English; 2.  French; 3. Spanish; 4. Speaker’s language.

ADMISSION BADGES

Admission badges are issued to participants at the time of registration, at the registration desk. Participants are requested to wear their badges when they are in the Conference Center and in the WIPO buildings.

TELEPHONE AND COMMUNICATION

Calls can be made from public telephones at the Post Office and around the Conference Center with the use of taxcards, available from the Post Office.

All incoming communications should be made to the following numbers:  WIPO reception desk: (41 22) 791 9111.

INTERNET CAFÉ

A limited number of Internet access points will be available for participants’ use. For those with laptops and WI-FI access cards, WI-FI is available throughout the CICG building.

DOCUMENTS COUNTER

The WIPO documents counter is located in the main entrance lobby of the Conference Center and will be open on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, from 9 a.m.

TRAVEL

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has an office at WIPO headquarters (on the opposite side of avenue Giuseppe-Motta), which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday (Telephone: (41 22) 734 3000). Participants are requested to contact Carlson Wagonlit if they require assistance with travel arrangements.

Please ensure you make the preparations necessary to obtain a visa for entry to Switzerland if your nationality requires it.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Buses to and from Geneva city center (and the railway station), stop at the rue de Vermont close to the Conference Center (bus line 5 stops at "Vermont"), avenue Guiseppe Motta outside the ITU tower (bus lines 8, 11 and 14 stop at "UIT"), and Place des Nations (bus lines 28, F, V, Z and tram lines 13 and 15 stop at "Nations"). TAXIS

The nearest taxi rank is situated on chemin Louis-Dunant. Taxis can be called by dialling (41 22) 320 2202 or (41 22) 320 2020.

PARKING

Participants may be dropped off by car near to the roundabout in front of the main entrance to the Conference Center, but no parking is allowed there. Upon request, parking cards for free-of-charge access to the underground parking at the Place des Nations will be available from WIPO registration desk at the Conference Center.

Chauffeur-driven official cars should not remain parked in the vicinity of the entrance to the Conference Center, but should leave the area and return just before the expected end of the meeting.

FACILITIES OFFERED AT OR NEAR THE CONFERENCE CENTER

  • Postal service:  There is a Post Office on the ground floor of the Conference Center.
    (Hours: 8 a.m. to 12 noon / 2 to 6 p.m.)
  • An office of the Union de Banques Suisses (UBS) is situated across the street from the Conference Center at 17 chemin Louis-Dunant. (Hours: 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (Monday to Friday))
  • Cloakroom:  A self-service cloakroom, situated in the main entrance of the hall of the Conference Center, is available for the use of the participants. This area is unattended, and WIPO can take no responsibility for loss or theft.
  • Coffee bars, cafeteria, restaurant at the Conference Center.
    Coffee bar: open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    Restaurant: open from 11.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • News-stand:  A news-stand and tobacconist are open during the meeting hours (Level 0 of the Conference Center).

RESTAURANTS

A coffee bar is open at the Conference Center from early morning, and at lunchtime a self-service cafeteria is in operation on the premises. Participants also have access to the cafeteria located in the nearby WIPO building. In addition, there are a number of restaurants in the vicinity offering a wide range of cuisine (Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Thai, etc.).
