Republication	The Office republishes notifications of international registration, subsequent designation or renewal received from the International Bureau in the National Gazette “Property Protection Gazette”.
Examination Procedure	Absolute and relative grounds.
Opposition Procedure	Ninety days from the date of publication in the Property Protection Gazette.
Time Limit for Responding to Provisional Refusal	Thirty days from the date of notification of the provisional refusal. Any holder of an international registration wishing to file an appeal against a provisional refusal issued by the Office of the Syrian Arab Republic will be allowed to do so directly before the Office within 30 days from the date on which the holder received the notification of provisional refusal sent by the International Bureau. After receiving the appeal, the Office of the Syrian Arab Republic will freeze the proceedings for a period of three months as from the date on which the appeal was filed, to allow for the submission of the required power of attorney appointing a local representative. http://www.wipo.int/edocs/madrdocs/en/2013/madrid_2013_8.doc
