The Office republishes notifications of international registration and subsequent designation received from the International Bureau.

Examination Procedure

Absolute grounds only.

Opposition Procedure

Three months commencing on the date of publication of the international registration in the Hungarian Gazette (non-extendable).

Time Limit for Responding to Provisional Refusal

According to Article 76/P (4) of the Hungarian Trademark Act, in the notification a time limit of at least three months shall be fixed for submitting comments, which can be extended upon a request filed before expiration; that is, three months from the date of notification by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office but not later than the expiry of one year from the date of notification by WIPO (extendable).

Administrative and judicial remedies in case of refusal issued by the Office

The decision of the Hungarian Office of a refusal of protection may be reviewed at the Metropolitan Court of Justice.
