As Office of a Designated Contracting Party

Republication	The Office republishes in the Trade Marks Journal notifications of international registration or subsequent designation received from the International Bureau. The Trade Marks Journal.
Examination Procedure	Absolute grounds. Search for earlier trade marks for notification purposes (not a barrier to progress of the case).
Opposition Procedure	Two months commencing on the date of publication in the British Trade Marks Journal (non-extendable). This may be extended to three months if opposition is filed.
Time Limit for Responding to Provisional Refusal	Two months (extendable).
Administrative and judicial remedies in case of refusal issued by the Office	Appeal via an internal IPO hearing. If the refusal is maintained, possibility for an appeal to an independent tribunal (the Appointed Persons) or directly to the High Court.
