The Office accepts all of the class headings of the Nice Classification.

Local representation is required for all persons and entities outside of the EU and those from the EU without a domicile in Spain. Not necessary for EU members having a domicile for notifications in Spain. For non-EU members it is always necessary to have a representative (Official IP Agents only).

Recording of replacement takes place upon written request, filed with the Office. A fee of 37.27 EURO is required. The request is registered in a database and published.

If the transformed mark has been granted protection in Spain, the Office examines on formalities only, but if the protection for the transformed mark has not been granted, the Office carries out the normal examination. A transformation fee of 135.94 EURO is required.

Recording in the International Register if a trademarks license related to an international registration is effective in Spain (Article 48 of the Trademark Law and Article 32 of the Regulations under the Trademark Law).
