Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean - Cooperation with the private sector
One of the priorities of the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean is to develop and maintain constructive links in the field of intellectual property with non-governmental organizations in the region. The Bureau has traditionally kept close cooperation links with the Inter American Association of Industrial Property (ASIPI) which gathers industrial property lawyers and agents of the region. WIPO and ASIPI cooperate in the organization of awareness-building activities touching on contemporary issues of industrial property and the constitution of joint working groups to study the evolution of international norms in the area of Patent and Trademark Law.
The Bureau also collaborates with a number of private institutions in the organization of seminars and other events touching on different aspects of intellectual property, with the aim of improving the knowledge and understanding by the widest sectors of society work of WIPO, including the development of Intellectual Property Law. To this effect, the Bureau sponsors the participation of WIPO staff and specialized speakers from the private or public sectors in such seminars and activities.
