Installation Instructions After storing the above files on your PCs hard drive perform the following operations (in the order shown). The instructions assume that you are within a windows environment and have a file explorer window visible. 1. Double click on the MSXML4 file. This will install software on your machine that allows software to parse and process XML documents. If your machine reports an error relating to the version of your MS installer then double click on the InstMSI2.exe and install the MS Installer software (you will need to reboot your PC after performing this task). Once the PC has retry the MSXML installation, it should now work. 2. Double click on the IPCdef.exe file. This will install the document template and required style sheets onto your PC. Be sure to note which directory you are installing to as this information is needed in the next step. 3. Save the IPCdefinitions.dot file into the directory that you have just installed into, you will be prompted with a message asking you if you want to replace an existing file, answer yes to replace (this is the updated definition template). At this point you will have installed the template and are ready to use it. In order to verify that this template works double click on the IPCdefinitions.dot file. MS Word will now start and will ask you if you wish to enable macros, answer yes to enable. When MS Word loads the document you should be prompted by a window asking you what kind of report you wish to create, this window will also allow you to change to French and to specify an IPC symbol (but this is dealt with in the user manual). It should be noted that before complete use of this template is possible the location of the IPC XML documents must be specified, cut and paste one of the following URLs into the documents 'Setup' option. http://www.wipo.int/classifications/en/ipc/definitions/ IPC in English. http://www.wipo.int/classifications/fr/ipc/definitions/ IPC in French.
