Main Findings
America’s 8 to 21 year olds are enthusiastic about entrepreneurship: four out of 10 young people would like to start their own business in the future; a further 37% do not discard such a possibility, stating that they are just unsure about it. Slightly more than one in four (26%) agree that starting a business is more desirable than other potential career paths. 37% would want to invent something if given the opportunity.
Respondents indicate the following top motivations for starting one’s own business: “desire to use their skills and abilities” (92%); “building something for their future” (89%); “be their own boss” (87%); “see their ideas realised” (81%); and “earn lots of money” (85%).
