Main Findings
Illegal downloading of copyrighted material by youth has declined by almost a quarter between 2004 and 2007. Top worries when downloading copyrighted material without paying are viruses and spyware, legal consequences, and also increasingly trouble with parents. Still, almost a third of the respondents admitted to illegally downloading music, while about one in ten downloaded software and movies.
Clear guidelines about online conduct from parents are found to have a strong influence on online behaviour of their children. 29% of youths report that online safety and online behaviour have been addressed in school.
