Subject/Type: | Piracy |
Focus: | Software |
Country/Territory: | United States of America |
Objective: | To study the interrelationship between demographic and self-efficacy variables and their effect on attitudes and behaviour toward software piracy. |
Sample: | 242 business and law students (non-random) from a community college and a private university |
Methodology: | Voluntary, in-class questionnaire |
Main Findings
Found no significant effect of religious commitment, professional orientation or gender on ethical computer self-efficacy and ethical intention. Ethics courses were found to have no effect on piracy behaviour either. However, education level and age did produce a significant effect on both ethical computer self-efficacy and ethical conduct to computer technology.
