Anti-Piracy - Outreach Aimed at Corporations and Governments

Association Européenne pour la Protection des Œuvres et services Cryptés (AEPOC - European Association for the Protection of Encrypted Works and Services)

The 2004 AEPOC Code of Ethics and Good Practice established best practice procedures for collective efforts against piracy. The Code, which is effective for all AEPOC members, defined for the first time common standards of support and co-operation in the fight against piracy of audiovisual services. AEPOC is extending the scope of the application of this Code to other entities who are not AEPOC members, and it is diffusing the document among politicians and operators.

 

Alliance Against IP Theft

Since 1997 the Alliance has organized an annual Anti-Piracy Golf Tournament to raise funds for the fight against intellectual property theft in the UK.

 

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)

The Copyright Use and Security Guide for Companies and Governments was published in 2003. It came as a response to IFPI’s discovery that company and government computer systems were hosting / uploading music and film databases, or transmitting copyright material on P2P services. The Guide was distributed to hundreds of companies in Europe and the US, and the PDF version can be freely downloaded in six languages.

 

Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) / Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA)

In 2003, the MPAA and the RIAA published a Corporate Policy Guide to Copyright Use and Security on the Internet   aimed at helping American companies prevent copyright abuse on their computers networks. As part of this corporate awareness campaign, the guide was distributed to the Fortune 1000 companies in the US.

 

Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA)

The SIAA’s website provides informational resources to help corporations avoid software infringement in their operations. The resources include a flyer with a set of frequently asked questions regarding the copying of software, policy guidelines for employee software and Internet usage, and posters reminding employees that software piracy is a punishable crime.
