Main duties

Under the supervision of the Head of the Legal Section, Legal and Promotion Division, the incumbent performs, in particular, the following duties:

  • participating in the provision of information, advice and assistance in the implementation of the Madrid Protocol; dealing with general correspondence involving interpretation of the Protocol or legal issues in its application;
  • participating in the preparation and updating of information and training material on the above-mentioned treaty, and preparing and/or taking part in training courses, seminars and information meetings for users and potential users of the Madrid Protocol and for Offices of Contracting Parties or potential Contracting Parties of the treaty;
  • participating in the legal work connected with the Madrid System for the international registration of marks, in particular, in the revision of the Regulations, Administrative Instructions, Applicant’s Guide and guidelines for examiners;
  • assisting in the preparation of documentation for meetings concerning the above; participating in the representation of WIPO at such meetings, and in the presentation of their reports;
  • collaborating in the formulation of information to interested States regarding accession to, or ratification of, the above-mentioned treaty;
  • performing other related tasks as required.
