Procedures Applying when this Contracting Party is Designated

The Office republishes the international registration in the IPOS Designs Journal, in a separate section entitled International Registrations Designating Singapore. |
| Examination Procedure |
The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, other than novelty. The Office also checks that the international registration does not contain designs not conforming to the unity of design. |
| Opposition Period |
None. |
| Time Limit for Responding to Refusal |
Three months from the date of notification by the Office (extendable usually in periods of three months but subject to a reasonable number of requests for extensions). |
| Effect as Grant of Protection |
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection, if no refusal has been issued, as from the international registration date. If a refusal (partial or total) has been issued and the refusal has been subsequently withdrawn, the international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date. |
| Representation before the Office |
Holders of international registrations may file documents or appear before the Office directly, for all matters, provided a local address for service is provided. The Office does not maintain a list of industrial property agents. |
| Fees payable on division of the international registration |
If the divided application is e-filed: 250 SGD; if the divided application is physically filed over the counter at IPOS: 270 SGD. |
