The Office republishes the international registration in the IPOS Designs Journal, in a separate section entitled International Registrations Designating Singapore.

The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, other than novelty. The Office also checks that the international registration does not contain designs not conforming to the unity of design.

Three months from the date of notification by the Office (extendable usually in periods of three months but subject to a reasonable number of requests for extensions).

The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection, if no refusal has been issued, as from the international registration date. If a refusal (partial or total) has been issued and the refusal has been subsequently withdrawn, the international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date.

Holders of international registrations may file documents or appear before the Office directly, for all matters, provided a local address for service is provided. The Office does not maintain a list of industrial property agents.

If the divided application is e-filed: 250 SGD; if the divided application is physically filed over the counter at IPOS: 270 SGD.
