The Office republishes the international registration in English and French, after examination, in the national IP Gazette, at:
The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, other than novelty, on issues such as the definition of a 'design'. public order and morality and on the protection of State emblems.
|Time Limit for Responding to Refusal||
Four months from the date of the notification (extendable for 60 days).
|Effect as Grant of Protection||
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date.
The creator of the industrial design must be a natural person.
|Representation before the Office||
Holders of international registrations may file documents or appear before the Office on some matters only. The Office maintains a Register of Representatives which is available from the Office or at:
