The Office republishes the international registration in English and Georgian, after examination, in the national Official Bulletin of Industrial Property at: |
| Examination Procedure |
The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds on issues such as the definition of a 'design', public order and morality, the protection of State emblems and a limited examination as to local novelty. |
| Opposition Period |
Three months from the date of publication in the national Official Bulletin of Industrial Property (non-extendable). |
| Time Limit for Responding to Refusal |
Three months from the date of receipt of the notification (non-extendable). |
| Effect as Grant of Protection |
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection, if no refusal has been issued, as from the international registration date. If a refusal (partial or total) has been issued and the refusal has been subsequently withdrawn, the international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date. |
| Representation before the Office |
Holders of international registrations, or their representatives, who have an address in the territory of Georgia may file documents or appear before the Office. A list of local patent attorneys is available from the Office or at: |
