The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, on issues such as the definition of a 'design', public order and morality and the protecton of State emblems. |

Two months from the date of receipt of the notification (extendable once for two months). |
| Effect as Grant of Protection |
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date. |
| Representation before the Office |
Persons not having a domicile or place of business in a member State of the European Community (EU), or in a State party to the Agreement of the European Economic Area (EEA) must, within the allocated timeframe provided for by INPI, appoint a representative satisfying the conditions laid down under Article R.512-1.
