The Office republishes the registration in the Mallioikeuslehti (The Design Gazette). |
| Examination Procedure |
The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, including a limited examination as to novelty, or examination as to novelty following opposition by third parties. |
| Opposition Period |
Two months from the date of publication of the registration in the Mallioikeuslehti/Mönsterrättstidningen (The Design Gazette), (non-extendable). |
| Time Limit for Responding to Refusal |
Two months from the refusal date (extendable for additional periods of two months). |
| Effect as Grant of Protection |
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection, if no refusal has been issued, as from the international registration date. If a refusal (partial or total) has been issued and the refusal has been subsequently withdrawn, the international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date. |
| Representation before the Office |
Holders of international registrations may file documents or appear before the Office directly, if domiciled in Finland. If that is not the case, the holder must appoint a representative residing in the EU/EEA. The Office does not maintain a list of intellectual property agents or representatives. |
