| Examination Procedure |
The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, other than novelty, such as the compliance with the definition of a design, the contradiction to good practice, the existence of the name and state symbols of the Republic of Estonia and the emblems protected pursuant to Art 6ter of the Paris Convention. The Office also checks that the international registration consists of only one design or the variants or a set of one design. |

| Time Limit for Responding to Refusal |
Four months from the date of notification of the refusal (extendable for a maximum of six months). |
| Effect as Grant of Protection |
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the date of publication in the Estonian Industrial Design Gazette (Eesti Tööstusdisainilahenduse Leht). |
| Representation before the Office |
Holders of international registrations may not file documents or appear directly before the Office. Local representation is required by a patent attorney. A list of patent attorneys is available from the Office or at: |
| Fees payable on division of the international registration |
102.56 EUR, if the owner is a legal person; 25.56 EUR, if the owner is a natural person. |
