Procedures Applying when this Contracting Party is Designated
The Office carries out examination of the international registration before republication, in English, in the Patents and Trademarks Journal (hard copy format). The Office does not republish renewals of international registrations.
The Office carries out examination on substantive grounds, other than novelty, on the definition of a 'design', and public order and morality.
|Time Limit for Responding to Refusal||
Two months from the date of notification (non-extendable).
|Effect as Grant of Protection||
The international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date. If a refusal (partial or total) has been issued and the refusal has been subsequently withdrawn, the international registration has the effect as a grant of protection as from the international registration date.
|Representation before the Office||
Holders may not appear before the Office directly. Representation is required by an industrial property (IP) agent. A list of IP agents may be obtained directly from the Office.
|Fees payable on division of the international registration||
