Memorandum of the Director General
1. The attached document (WO/GA/23/5) describes, for consideration by the Budget and Premises Committees and then by the General Assembly, the new office building proposed to be constructed on the Steiner lot (which is now being purchased by WIPO), the new (larger) main conference room proposed to be constructed on WIPO's present land and to be integrated into the structure of the main WIPO Building, and the additional parking (particularly for delegates) proposed to be constructed as an extension of the present parking under the main WIPO Building, and proposes that a new international architectural competition be undertaken for those three elements of construction.
2. Any views expressed, and/or recommendations made, by the Budget and Premises Committees will be transmitted by the Director General to the General Assembly, along with his observations.
- 3. The Budget and Premises Committees are invited to express
their views on the contents of the attached document WO/GA/23/5,
and to recommend to the General Assembly that it take the decisions
contained in paragraph 54 of that document.
