Economic Aspects of IP in Countries in Transition

A Study on Enforcement of IPRs, tailored to the needs of Countries in Transition, was requested during the Strategy Planning Meeting, held in Moscow, on July 18 and 19, 2007, and reconfirmed in Ljubljana at the Strategic Seminar for the Use of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) for Development in November 2007, as well as during the WIPO Sub-Regional Symposium on Enforcement of IPRs, in Sofia, November 27 and 28, 2008.

 

The tool is to be designed to assist law enforcement agencies, judiciary, the private sector and consumers in developing and implementing effective strategies at the national and regional level to tackle counterfeiting and piracy in countries in transition.
