National Seminar on the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks, Podgorica, Montenegro, June 6 and 7, 2011

  The National Seminar on the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), jointly by the Division for Certain Countries in Europe and Asia (DCEA) and the Brands and Designs Sector, International Registries of Madrid and Lisbon, in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Office of Montenegro (IPOM) on June 6 and 7, 2011 in Podgorica, Montenegro.

  The objective of the seminar, including a one-day seminar on the Madrid system and a one-day training at the office, was to provide IPOM with knowledge on recent developments and better use of the Madrid System for International Registration of Marks.

  The opening remarks were given by Mr. Novak Adžić, Director of the IPOM, who emphasized the importance of the seminar for Montenegro and the excellent cooperation between WIPO and IPOM. 

  WIPO officials, Ms. Marie-Laure Douay, Assistant Legal Officer, Legal Division, International Registries of Madrid and Lisbon, Brands and Designs Sector, and Mr. Dušan Ličina, Examiner, Processing Team 2, Examination and Registration Section, Operations Service, delivered presentations on the Madrid System and on the management of international registrations.

Around 40 participants namely IPOM staff, patent attorneys and representatives of business community and private enterprises, attended the seminar and actively contributed to the discussions.
