Airport Arrival and Departure

Beijing Capital International Airport is the main international airport in Beijing. The airport is located about 20km northeast of the city, and can be accessed by taxi, the Airport Shuttle and the Airport Express

Transportation from Beijing International Airport for all delegates

The Chinese Government will provide a shuttle service to all delegates to the Diplomatic Conference on June 18 and 19 at Terminal 1 (T1), Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3) of the Beijing International Airport from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight. Delegates arriving at the Beijing International Airport on June 18 or 19 shall approach the Information Desk of the Diplomatic Conference at the exit of the international arrivals. After presenting the invitation letter from WIPO and the passport delegates will be offered transportation to any of the nine designated hotels available on WIPO website, including the China World Hotel.

Please note that no shuttle service will be provided for the departure from Beijing (return flights).

 

Transport in Beijing

Public Bus Services

Generally public buses run from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight daily.  Bus fares range from 1 to 3 Yuan for non air-conditioned buses, and 2 to 6 Yuan for air-conditioned buses.

Subway

The Guomao Subway Station is located in front of the China World Hotel of China World Trade Centre.  The station services subway lines 1 (east-west) and 10 (north-south).  Expect crowds, especially during rush hours.

Taxi Services

Taxi services are widely available including at hotel exits and at the Conference Venue.  Please note that it is not necessary to tip taxi drivers in Beijing. An additional 2 Yuan is charged as per the Beijing Municipal Government Regulation.

 

Tours

China Youth Travel Service (CYTS) will also assist delegates with arrangements for optional sightseeing tour (details and prices).  All charges at participants' own expenses.

 

Telecommunications

During meeting hours, local calls and faxes may be made in the conference area.  International calls and faxes can be made at the Administrative Office of the Conference Center for a fee.

Outside meeting hours, local and international calls may be made from public telephones available at the Conference Center. Local calls are charged at RMB 0.60 Yuan per 3 minutes.

 

Climate

June is one of the best months to visit Beijing, with daytime temperatures ranging between 18.89°C / 66°F to 30.56°C / 87°F.

 

Currency

China’s local currency is the Renminbi or Chinese Yuan (RMB/CNY). Its basic unit is the Yuan. The exchange rate is approximately US$1 = 6.36 Yuan (subject to change). The currency exchange counter of the State Bank of China is available in the arrival area of the International Airport and Hotels.
