International Patent Classification (IPC) - IT support area - IPCA6TRANS

IPCA6TRANS is a concept based on provision of IT toolkit and services facilitating IPC translation capture and its Internet publication.

Its goal is to facilitate creation and maintenance of IPC translation in national languages on the basis of the IPC master files in authentic languages (English and French). Although XML technology is always present in the background, it is hidden to users so that they can focus on substance of the IPC information to be translated. Texts to be translated are presented in their IPC context, as they are in Internet publication.

IPCA6TRANS scope is the provision of IT assistance at various stages following generation of the IPC master files in XML format until production of their transformations (e.g. internet publication, CD-ROM product, PDF, ...) in targeted language.

This project, co-financed by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and WIPO, was implemented initially for the translation of the IPC into Spanish. However, since conceptual design phase, it was envisaged that this IT solution could also benefit to the translation of the IPC into other languages.
