Browsing the text
First select the section you want to browse.
You can go to the selected class clicking on its identifier, then you
will reach the list of subclasses.
Clicking on the identifier of the subclass, you can start browsing
the first (or only) page of the subclass.
You can see in the right up corner, which symbols are contained in
the current WEB page.
If the subclass is broken into more pages, the symbols contained in
the previous or next page of the actual subclass are presented on the second
line of the header or in the footer. By clicking on them, you reach the
respective parts of the subclass.
Clicking on the ^ sign in the footer, you can return to the top of
the page.
In the center of the the header of the pages the PDF icon provides links
to the PDF version of the pages. These PDF pages are fully hyperlinked. To use
the hyperlinks you need Acrobat as plug-in (and not Helper) to your browser.
You can return to the class or section of the current text by clicking
on the identifiers of the section or class, or you can open the list of
sections by clicking on the title in the header of the page.
Click on the flag to jump to the other language data.
Click on the button in the 6th edition or
button in the 7th edition to jump to the RCL (Revision Concordance List
between the sixth and seventh editions) information. (See sample.)
Jumping to an IPC symbol directly
Symbol syntax
Enter a valid IPC symbol in the IPC/CIB field, with its subclass. Alternatively,
you can enter the section, class or subclass identifier into the Subclass
field.
Accepted IPC syntax: A01B, A01B
12/00, A01B01200 or, if the Subclass
field is filled, 01300 or 13/00
are also accepted.
Tricks
When you use the Go! or Atteindre! buttons, and you have, for example,
previously searched for a symbol in C07C, then a search expression: 7/00
will perform a jump to C07C007/00 (if it exists).
If you have previously searched for a symbol in C07C 7/00, then
a search expression: /12 will perform a search for C07C007/12
Restrictions / limitations
These WEB pages can be visualized, to achieve the required quality,
with Internet Explorer 4.0, Netscape 4.*.
The files were optimized for Internet download speed, respecting the
balance of their size and quality.
The following restrictions were detected:
| o |
in respect of speed and quality of the presentation, we recommend the use of
browsers in the following order: Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, Netscape 6,
Opera, Netscape 4.x, any other.
|
| o | Netscape 4.x cannot visualize single borders, which are
used for designating double-purpose symbols; Explorer draws them properly. (See A01N)
|
| o | Netscape will sometimes use the horizontal scrollbar when the paragraphs
do not fit into the screen,
|
| o | the presentation of subclass indexes and the
RCL tables are different for the two browsers,
|
| o | identifiers in Netscape
are presented somewhat "deeper" than the text,
|
| o | if there are superscript/subscript
characters (see sample)
or pictures (see sample)
in the text, then the spacing of lines is disturbed,
|
| o | the French/English flags are put to the right and
vertically aligned to the top of the text of a symbol,
|
| o | in Netscape 4.x when the text of a particuar paragraph seems to be hidden, please modify (increase or decrease) the resolution of your screen.
