Nice Classification New Electronic Publication (NCLPUB)

September 22, 2017

The new format of the official online publication of the Nice Classification (NCLPUB) will be launched on Monday, September 25, 2017. This new publication format replaces NicePub, which will no longer be accessible after that date. Please note that there could be intermittent technical difficulties in accessing the publication on September 25 due to this transition process.

NCLPUB contains the current edition-version of the Classification (NCL 11-2017), sorted by the familiar Class or Alphabetical indexes, as well as tabs for Class Headings, General Remarks and Modifications. NCLPUB also contains Information Files that provide useful advice and guidance about the contents of the Nice classes and on certain goods or services. An interactive Search feature allows users to find a specific term or basic number in the Classification, including those terms that are contained in the information files.

NCLPUB provides links to the previous editions of the Nice Classification (1 to 10-2016) as well as the option to view the future version (NCL 11-2018), which will enter into force on January 1, 2018.

The Hierarchy tool (formerly known as “Taxonomy”), created by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in collaboration with WIPO, can be consulted by using the “Hierarchical” and “Full” view modes.

Please further note that the Spanish language version of NCL 11-2017 is available under the “Language” tab, along with the two authentic languages of the Nice Classification, English and French.
