Modernization of Intellectual Property Systems

One of the Arab Bureau's major activities is to assist Arab countries in modernizing their intellectual property systems by revising national legislation concerning intellectual property in order to comply with international standards, WIPO Treaties and the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). It also focuses on promoting international and regional cooperation for the protection, administration, modernization and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

For the achievement of this objective, advisory missions are regularly undertaken to Arab countries to provide the competent authorities with legislative advice for the drafting or modernization of national legislation in the field of intellectual property in line with the TRIPS Agreement. Also, specialized training courses are organized in various Arab countries on the interpretation and implementation of intellectual property laws.
