Name: Michael Castello Organization: Castello Cities Position: CEO WIPO is clearly crossing the line with regards to Geographical names. Many businesses have done a great service to many destinations in a way that government and old school agencies could never do. In America these cities have had reserved URL's that only they could reserve such as http://ci.palm-springs.ca.us Many of us have spent much time and money creating portals to destinations long before most even thought it could be accomplished. We will fight any unreasonable attempt to take away our business and livelihood through our courts and further diminish the WIPO's authority over us. The WIPO is clearly trying to rewrite the successes of what has been acomplished by true internet pioneers thus far. The WIPO is like a runaway train that is trying to grab as much power as it can. No wonder it is under the UN umbrella. |
