ANNEX I

Panel of Experts Appointed by WIPO

I. ROLE OF THE EXPERTS

The fifteen members of the panel of experts (and their alternates) listed below were appointed by WIPO for their professional expertise as well as the diverse viewpoints they bring from the business, Internet, public interest and trademark communities.

Each expert participated in the Process in his or her personal capacity, rather than as an advocate of any particular "constituency," although they expressed the diverse concerns of the various sectors with which they are most familiar. The role of the Panel is advisory, in that the experts assisted the WIPO Secretariat in refining the issues, as well as providing input and analysis of the responses and submissions received. The experts also assisted in conducting the regional consultations.

While WIPO has relied on the expertise and experience of the experts in preparing this Report, the Report is the responsibility of WIPO and it should not necessarily be implied that each expert subscribes to every recommendation contained in the Report.
