Seminar on Open Innovation, Intellectual Property Rights and Dispute Resolution in European Research Collaborations

Organized by the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organizations (KOWI)
Cologne, Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Overview

Intellectual property rights are valuable assets for R&D collaborations and commercial transactions. An increasing amount of cross-border Open Innovation co-operations involve IP-related interaction between universities, research organizations, companies, suppliers and customers. The complex nature of such transactions may give rise to disputes involving parties from different countries with different business, legal and cultural backgrounds, as well as attitudes and expectations.‬

This seminar will focus on the concept of Open Innovation and its implementation in projects and partnering networks. Representatives from universities, technology licensing offices and companies will present their experience with contract negotiations, intellectual property and dispute resolution. The seminar is organized on the occasion of the 23rd KoWi Annual Conference on European Union Research Funding (KoWi-Bundestagung) organized by the The UAS7 German Universities of Applied Sciences and the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi).
