Industry Affairs Manager, GlaxoSmithKline

David Rosenberg, an English solicitor, is Industry Affairs Manager within the Corporate IP Department of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) where he has responsibility for managing the development of the company's position on IP policy issues.

David represents GSK's position on various industry bodies, including the Trade Marks, Patents and Designs Federation, of which he is a Council and Patents Committee Member and Chair of the Litigation Committee, and the Patents Working Group of UNICE, the European employers federation.

He joined GlaxoWellcome in February 2000 after spending 15 years in the IP Group at Clifford Chance. Much of his work in his last 5 years at Clifford Chance involved the pharmaceutical industry.

In the last 5 years, his work has focussed to a significant degree on the debate concerning the impact of patents and TRIPs on access to medicines and its impact on developments in the WTO. He has also worked extensively on proposed developments in the patent enforcement system in Europe (the Community Patent and European Patent Litigation Agreement)
