What are the IPTIs?

The IPTIs are tailor-made and sustainable solutions to the intellectual property (IP) training and skills-building needs of WIPO member states. Guided by the WIPO Academy, countries set up IP training centers to deliver targeted training programs and resources for key sectors and audiences including SMEs, women and the youth.

So far in 2023, a total of six new IPTIs have launched, including with Armenia and Pakistan. There are 14 established IPTIs, which WIPO Academy continues to support with follow-up cooperation projects, and 13 IPTIs are underway. Each IPTI takes approximately two years and a half to be set-up, but most already start providing training during the second year of the process.

To foster cooperation and networking among the IPTIs that have been established and are in progress, the WIPO Academy built a Virtual Network enabling IPTIs to partner and collaborate on joint initiatives and share experiences.
