WINIPE Update: Prizes for Best Students and More!

The first in-person meeting of the WIPO International Network for Intellectual Property Education (WINIPE) was held in Turin, Italy on July 14 and 15, 2023.

WINIPE brings together academic representatives from all the universities that WIPO Academy partners with to offer Joint Master’s Programs in intellectual property (IP).

What comes next?

Thirty deans, professors and leading academics from Ankara University, IE University, Jagiellonian University, KDI School, Singapore University of Social Sciences, Tongji University, University of San Andrés and University of Turin attend the meeting which was chaired by Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of the WIPO Academy. WINIPE members discussed future plans for enhancing the administration and delivery of the Joint Masters Programs including:

  • New pedagogical methods incorporating AI technology and IP academic resources;
  • WIPO Academy prizes for the three best performing students in each program to be announced at the graduation ceremonies;
  • Internship opportunities and other hands-on training arrangements for students before graduation at IP offices, law firms and leading companies from the private sector;
  • Greater cooperation and partnerships between the universities in the delivery of their programs and joint academic research;
  • Continued development of specialized academic resources on IP in the different languages;
  • Additional tracer studies on graduates from the different programs and a more structured and vibrant space for the alumni community; and
  • Providing support to graduates in their efforts to compete for the best employment opportunities.

The WINIPE Platform

Students, alumni, and professors of the WIPO Joint Master’s Program can join the WINIPE online platform to access more than 230 electronic publications, resources, and IP curricula, and engage in discussions with fellow members.

If you are a partner or a student from the WIPO Joint Master’s Programs on offer with partner institutions and you wish to access the platform, please contact the WINIPE administration and provide your email address, name, surname and status (student/ alumnus/ IP expert/ professor) to be registered.
