WIPO Distance Learning Courses in Chinese Launch on CIPTC Platform

November 3, 2016

Following the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the WIPO Academy and the China Intellectual Property Training Center (CIPTC) of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China (SIPO) on March 16, 2016, WIPO Distance Learning (DL) courses in Chinese were launched on the CIPTC platform on October 25, 2016.

The WIPO Academy and the WIPO Office in China (WOC) worked closely with the CIPTC to make this important development possible.

A growing IP powerhouse

The decision to collaborate in offering all of the WIPO Academy DL Courses was made in recognition of China’s growing importance in the world of innovation and creativity and the expected associated increase in the demand for education and training in the field of intellectual property (IP).

Participants who participate in the IP training courses under the WIPO Academy DL program will benefit from the localized administration and tutorial support that will be delivered according to WIPO Academy standards.

The CIPTC platform will offer all of the current WIPO DL courses in Chinese by the end of 2017. The course content is in the process of being customized for the Chinese audience.

Launch ceremony

At the launch ceremony attended by government representatives, academia and press from China, Mr. He Zhimin, Deputy Commissioner of SIPO, emphasized the importance of the joint work of the CIPTC and the WIPO Academy in developing knowledge among Chinese IP stakeholders, through the WIPO Academy DL courses, especially in view of the fact that IP is one of the instrumental factors in China’s growth and development strategy.
