The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will offer a two-week Summer School on Intellectual Property, jointly with the State Intellectual Property Organization (SIPO), Croatia, and the University of Dubrovnik from 

May 31 to June 11, 2010

The Summer School offers an invaluable education program in the whole area of intellectual property (IP) (Please see program below).

Thirty places will be made available.  Selected applicants will be notified one week after the registration deadline (see Registration below).

Objective

The objective of the Summer School is to provide an opportunity for senior students and young professionals to acquire deeper knowledge of IP, and to gain an appreciation of IP as a tool for economic, social, cultural and technological development and the role WIPO plays in the global administration of IP.

Who May Apply?

Senior students (graduate and postgraduate students) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline.

Registration Fees

Payable upon notification of acceptance.

For students and young professionals from developing countries and countries in transition and residing in those countries

Students: US$ 150
Young professionals: US$ 250

For students and young professional from developed countries

Students: US$ 300

Distance Learning

Pre-selected candidates will be required to successfully complete a special session of the Academy's distance learning General Course on Intellectual Property (DL-101).  Dates for this session will be announced upon pre-selection.
 

Program

The program [available in  MS-WORD or Adobe PDF] consists of lectures by eminent experts in the field of IP, both from WIPO and external. The program also includes case studies and group discussions on selected IP topics. A certificate of participation is awarded to those who successfully complete all requirements of the program.
 

Insurance and Medical Examination

Non-resident participants will be provided with insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in connection with the Summer School program.

Each participant will be required to present a medical certificate upon arrival.

Travel, Accommodation and Living Expenses  

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Dubrovnik, accommodation and living expenses during their participation of the program.
